UNDERTOW SHAWLETTE

Cast on 3 sts and knit six rows.

Turn the garter tab you have just knit 90 degrees and pick up/knit 3 sts along this long edge, the pick up/knit 3 sts along the cast on edge.
You will have 9 stitches.

Row 1: k3, p to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 2: k3, yo, kfb, k to last 5 sts, kfb, k1, yo, k3.

Repeat these two rows until you have 3 edge sts, 79 body sts, and 3 edge sts (85 sts total).

Friday Night: A Great Success

We had a great turnout and lots of fun knitting all the samples provided by Knitting Fever Euro Yarns as well as visiting with an outstanding yarn rep and new friend, Alyssa. She really knows every yarn, what patterns they work well with, and basically she’s just a load of fun. Based on the feedback from our guests an order was placed for this Fall and when you come to visit I can show you samples and share with you what is coming. Two people have already ordered sweater quantities of one of the new yarns!

Today was busy as well and for that I am always grateful. Tomorrow, Sunday, we will be open
1-4 pm for knit and visit — and since the store is all sparkly from Friday still, I get to visit too!

FRIDAY: Open House and Yarn Tasting, May 17th 5pm to close

The samples are all prepped and I loved every one of them from the yarn line we will be sharing with you tomorrow…and the sock yarn is spectacular. The fibers were all soft and some are blends I have not encountered before. My fingers are crossed and I am so excited to hear your feedback about these yarns!

The next Open House will be late in June with a different line of yarn, probably on a Sunday afternoon. If you have day or time preferences, please let me know and I will do my best to schedule accordingly.

The studio is vacuumed, the displays are spiffed and I even…wait for it…cleared off the table. Of course that will be covered with the samples.

The studio will be closed from 3-5 pm to prep for the Open House and to grab a bite before we all get together for our evening of fun.

Looking forward very much to seeing Ewe all here!

Open House and Free Yarn Tasting This Friday 5pm To Closing

Please be invited to an open house and FREE yarn tasting event at Summit Yarn this Friday from 5pm to closing. There will be a wide assortment of samples to try as well as the wonderful Euro Yarn rep to answer all our questions

In addition there are yarns marked down for clearance, the dollar bins are refilled and this week’s special is Colinette Jitterbug, regularly $25 marked to $18 for this week only.

The new Noro is in with sample garments and the range of weights includes worsted, sock and lace…all containing cotton for nice warm weather knitting and crochet.

Now am off to go trim six sets of cat nails. I startled one of my babies this morning and my room still looks like a crime scene. Three band aids to one hand. No knitting today. :-/

Edging Syndrome

And Juneberry continues with a beautiful edging…made it to the halfway point tonight and happily put my knitting down. It is a wide and very creative edging requiring lots of attention. I have had to backtrack (unknit) several times — either because I lost my place, screwed things up or both. Even so it is still well worth the effort. I love the stretchy softness of this fabric…lace knit on both sides seems to have a different drape and overall texture than lace knit on one side only. It is much more elastic and has a lovely smoosh that I do not possess just the right words to describe.

The new Noro display is mostly in place and now I am considering what to do with the newly emptied shelves. Time to go through the boxes and find something delightful and new for you to play with.

What I learned this week: when you play kissy face with a hungry kitten you run the risk of said kitten vapo-locking onto your lip requiring aid to free ones lip.

We will be visiting with the new Euro yarn rep who will show us all the new yarns in the lines she carries! The newest Noro Yarns (cotton and silk blends) will also be introduced Friday night. There are garments in each of the yarns to share how well the yarns make up. We look forward to the pleasure of your company!

Juneberry Triangle Shawl Continues and Happy Mother’s Day

Had a lovely busy day at the studio today. Everybody is very busy with their latest projects and Jamie is mostly busy with kittens — everybody send her blessings because without her those little sweet souls would have perished.

Nikkers and I spent the afternoon having a lovefest…at least until the thunder and lightning gave the dogs the idea that maybe they could fit in my lap as well — everyone all at the same time. That didn’t work so well.

Finished the final shawl chart this evening for Juneberry. Would suggest doing a combination of right and left hand knitting for the bobbles so the whole shawl doesn’t have to be flipped over and over for each bobble. My gauge would never be even for regular knitting this way but its good enough for bobbles. I love this shawl — in this green it looks like curly lettuce and pea pods!
