finished shawlette before blocking

This was almost as much fun as the Ravelympics, albeit much more relaxed.  The shawlette took me a week to complete and I enjoyed every minute of the knit, as well as meeting people from around the world.  Just supercool.  I finished this morning and used the crochet bind off which just looked more lacey than the knit bind off, to me.  I love how the pattern made the striped yarn ripple and I also love the softness of this Noro laceweight yarn.  There are a bunch of pictures posted on the forum on Ravelry for this knit-a-long; but also, if you go on Flickr there are even more photos posted there of projects not shared on the forum as yet.

We saw lots of projects completed this week.  The knitters at Summit Yarn are having fun with the superbulky Gedifra yarn.  Rose even took two balls and did a different version of the cowl using a 30 stitch cast-on.  She wore the cowl doubled over and it just couldn’t be more IN.  Kathy is hard at work on her baby sweaters…

kathy has started the raglan increases...nice work!

Cheryl came by today with a beautiful Flapper Hat made out of the multitonal Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride yarn and is about to start another hat and scarf set using the same pattern and yarn in purple for another granddaughter…

love the way the color pools...just adorable!

AND there are lots of projects getting started as well as continuing.  I am just about caught up to Suzy…just a few more rounds to go…really, I am not slacking.  We are starting a sweater KAL and  sock KAL…There are actually two sweater KALs right now:  the Elizabeth Zimmerman Adult Surprise Jacket and a seed stitch yoke color cardigan.  The sock KAL is going to be from the newest book put out by Interweave Press:  “Around the World in Knitted Socks”…we looked through it last night and loved every sock, although the one people commented on most frequently was the Knit Sampler (England).  So get your passports ready!

Take care and be sure to check in at the studio…new things are arriving all the time!  Enjoy this beautiful weekend!

Sincerely, Mary Ellen and Summit Yarn Studio  ;-D
